An interesting take on the Conestoga wagon. Certainly a huge part of the white flight invasion Clark County experienced from southern California was about expats from Ronald Reagans delusional America who hoped to find here an eternal suburb, circa 1962, but with a shopping mall. Portlandia jokes that Portland is a place where you never really have to grow up, and for the most part it is true. Part of growing up is recognizing and accepting the differences of the people around you, and people who want to move to Portland don’t want to accept people’s differences, they want to move to a place where everyone has the same value system.
