An interesting version of this law that seems tailored to avoid a lot of the potential abuses. That said, when you read the results from other states, they speak volumes. Florida spent more tax dollars testing people than they saved in people who then didnt get welfare but inconvenienced thousands of people. Utah made over 3000 people take a drug test and 12 failed. This is another one of those right wing ideas that sounds like common sense on its face, but the reality of it is a waste of time and money. First off, 40% of Americans or higher depending on the poll have been high. So let he who hath no sin cast that first stone. Second, companies make you take a drug test because you might be an insurance liability. The state has no such risk. Third, the cost of drug testing is high. And last, wasting the time of those in need to make them take an intrusive test for basically nothing is obnoxious.
