An interesting weekend of college football. Here is how I see the NCAA football playoff picture: Three teams control their own destiny: Florida State, Alabama, and Oregon. There is a bit of debate surrounding the fourth spot, but TCU also controls their destiny—and rightfully so. Here is my argument against Baylor: They did win head-to-head, but Baylor was the home team and only won by 3. 1) It is not a big stretch to assume TCU would beat them on a neutral field. 2) TCU has a better loss. 3) Also, the committee has already let us know that they prefer TCU over Baylor by ranking them higher each week. Here is my argument against Ohio State: Ohio State does have a conference championship game—which is the only reason they are still in the argument. 1) OSU still has a worse loss (14 points at home against VT). 2) They have been playing in a weaker conference than the Big 12. 3) They have not looked as impressive as TCU since the MSU win. 4) But I think the JT Barrett injury is the final nail in the coffin. I dont think they deserved a spot over TCU anyway, but that injury basically makes the case for the committee. One loss above opens the door for Ohio State.
