An official closing ceremony will be held at the Bethel High School at Campden Park this afternoon, to mark the end of the Caribbean Awards Sub Regional Council CASC camp. The camp brought together gold and silver participants in the Duke of Edinburgh International Award Scheme. The participants were drawn from nine countries: The Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Guyana, St. Lucia, Trinidad and host country St Vincent and the Grenadines. Organizers say, during the camp, the young people overcame a number of physical and mental challenges, through team work, as they traveled through the mountains of the interior of mainland St. Vincent. The activities included hiking to La Soufriere volcano. Today’s closing ceremony will mark the culmination of 17 days of adventure for the participants as well as the trainee leaders and staff of the awards program. The closing Ceremony will be held under the auspices of Governor General Sir Frederick Ballantyne, who is the Patron of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. It is scheduled to begin at four-thirty this afternoon.
