An opinion about the recent protest in Hong Kong, specifically on - TopicsExpress

An opinion about the recent protest in Hong Kong, specifically on the police use of force. Police has to be restrained, there is no doubt about it and there is already lots of talking about it. But on the protester side, if one truly wants minimal violence to occur in a protest, people should probably do things in the following way, which is an example of non-violent civil disobedience when a group of US military men and women protested against the Iraq war (precise matter not important, fast forward to the last two minutes when the protesters were arrested): youtube/watch?v=CIb5CniKCas But in the Hong Kong perspective, as far as I know, this may long have been considered too mild to be effective… To go a bit less then, while an international standard for universal suffrage is put forward as one background argument leading to the present protest, it is probably not too difficult too to look up some international practices when protests are suppressed, people should probably do research themselves (not just looking at Facebook), and compare to gauge different degrees of violence that involved across the spectrum. In addition, while everybody knows that the present Hong Kong government is backed by the Chinese communist government, which is responsible for the brutal 1989 June 4 event, Yet, despite all the malicious pictures that weve known, people are not prepared for the possible use of pepper spray and tear gas in a possible suppression when staging a protest like this, where there are beautiful sudden changes of tactics and involve large groups of people????!!!! (Peaceful or not can indeed be hard to tell in such scenarios....) I dont find things very consistent….. Violence, if can be avoided, has to be avoided; no matter it is hard actions or provocations; physical, verbal or spiritual. It is a matter of mutual interaction rather than a grasp of the moral high point. But it does seem to me that many things nowadays in Hong Kong only add oil to the fire ....
