An underworld outfitter who supplied false registration plates used in more than 100 major crimes in Merseyside was jailed. John Duckworth, 46, set up a fake business in order to con a legitimate company into supplying him with equipment to make the plates. He then went on to sell the plates to armed robbers and burglars across Merseyside who used them to evade the police. Christopher Hopkins, prosecuting, told Liverpool Crown Court that Duckworth was first arrested in connection with the murder of Jason Osu , who was shot to death in an ambush outside his Wavertree home in 2012. Detectives believed he had supplied the false plates used by Mr Osu’s assassins and arrested him on conspiracy to murder him.
