It is all too common to observe Palestinians speaking about Palestinians, Somalis speaking about Somalis, Bosnians speaking about Bosnians, and Abkhazians speaking about Abkhazians. The deliverance of aid and all of its forms should be unilateral and unconditional in nature. A law of proportional balance is difficult to enforce because each “national group of tribe” desires to function as its own first priority. That describes why leveraging aid dances along the outer boundaries of impossibility. The flexibility of that standard describes how it is possible to create a balance of reciprocity that distributes aid to where it is needed most. That is determined through the strengths and weaknesses each nation shares with its international peers. The basis of that standard incites opposition in many because it is felt that it is crucial to change our own backyard before lending a helping hand elsewhere, but the logical principle behind that is tirelessly self-defeating. Why? We will never get our nations exactly where we want them to be which is why the greatest lesson of diplomatic resolve is defined by our ability to find compromised balance. It is within our nature to help one of our own especially when our own backyard suffers under a banner of desolation, but it is still possible to find something of value in wastelands that bring aid so that it can fit a reciprocal mold to a needy foreign recipient. Civilization is built on foreign interactions and our ability to assist the mutual development of peace and prosperity within a body that styles itself as an international community of nations demands the molded reciprocity of aid in all of its forms. Considering that the Eid festivities are around the corner, I would like to encourage any Muslim that observes this to embark on a challenge. That is defined as donating $10 or less per month to each nation or geographic region until that person has donated to each individual one. Individual actions that manifest from the bottom up ushers in a better world mutually equitable to all.
