Anambra government calls on the people to obtain their permanent voter cards The Anambra Government has called on eligible voters in the state to turn out en mass and participate in the forth-coming voter revalidation exercise and obtain their permanent voter cards. The Special Adviser on Political Matters to Gov. Willie Obaino Chief Joe-Martins Uzodike made the call on Sunday at Nibo near Awka during a stakeholders meeting of Presidents-General of communities. He stressed the need for the people to participate in the revalidation exercise and ensure they obtain their permanent voter cards. He said that about 1.8 million voters were registered in the state previously out of which about 1.3 million participated in the previous elections. ``This is the time for the people of the state to actualise their dreams of having the power to vote people of their choice. ``Let us ensure that all those whose names are in the voters’ register collect their permanent voter cards. ``Those who have attained 18 years or did not register in the past should do so now,” he pleaded. Uzodike said that voters register would be used for delineation of constituencies in the state. The special adviser urged the presidents-general to work with their village heads, councilors and other stakeholders to ensure the success of the exercise. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had announced that the distribution of permanent voter cards would commence in the state from Aug. 15 to Aug. 17. The commission also announced that the continuous voters’ registration exercise would hold between Aug. 20 and Aug. 25
