Anantnag, June 20 . A complete shutdown was observed Wednesday in this South Kashmir Township in response to the call of Ummat-I-Islami to commemorate the 19th death anniversary of prominent pro-freedom leader, Dr Qazi Nissar Ahmad. From Early morning People visited the Martyrs Graveyard at Islamic Research Institute, the institute founded by Dr. Qazi Nissar. Shops, Schools and other business establishments remained Closed. People in large numbers marched towards the Islamic Research Institute where Dr. Qazi Nissar is laid to rest. Early in the Morning a program for Fateh Khawani was organized by UeI. At the end of this program UeI had planned to take out a rally from Islamic Research Institute to Dialgam, the place where Dr. Qazi Nissar was martyred. But Dozens of Policemen patrolling the gates of the Institute barred the people from moving on and foiled the march of UeI. Senior Pro Freedom Leader Zafar Akbar Bhat while paying glowing tributes to the slain Leader said “Dr. Qazi Nissar was a Great religious scholar and a great Patriot” he was always laid emphasis on unity of Ummah. Demanding the Release of Qazi Ahmed Yasir he said booking religious leaders and locking them behind prison exposes the tall claims of Indian Secularism. Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, The chairman of People’s League also paid tributes to the Slain Leader and named him as his teacher and guide. Shabir Ahmed Shah and Nayeem Ahmed khan were arrested near Pampore while they were on their way to pay tributes to the Slain Leader. Ummat I Islami’s Executive Council met under the chairmanship of Moulana Sarjan Ahmed Barakati who while denouncing the curbs on the Ummat I Islami rally He appreciated the people of Islamabad especially the Traders Association, ACDA, Private Schools Unions, Teachers Association, South Kashmir Transporters Associations and all other Unions for showing their love and Respect for their beloved leader by observing complete shutdown.
