And a couple of weeks later, Tom Harris was impressing Worldwide Dirt racings finest in Oklahoma! As this could raise BriSCA F1 (or our best drivers at least!) to the World Stage expect a major feature in SCm 2015#01 - For now heres Official TomHarrisRacing press officer Nick Baileys ( elan_pr ) 2015 visit summary, Tom Harris made a hugely impressive debut in US racing after reaching the J Feature Race at the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa last weekend. Harris, who had never seen or drive the Midget Sprint car before the start of last week and with just two miles of testing, impressed by beating race drivers from both Indy Car and NASCAR in the Superbowl of Midget Racing. After qualifying on Thursday when Tom beat former IndyCar racer Sarah Fisher and NASCAR legend Kenny Wallace in each of his respective heats, Tom got a slot in the J race on Saturday night at an event that attracts over 320 race drivers and over 17,000 spectators in the Tulsa indoor arena . An early tangle with two other cars meant he was right at the back at the restart but gaining experience every lap, he managed to get up to 7th, beating Kenny Wallace for a second time. With only the top 4 progressing , that was the end of the days racing for Tom but he already has plans to return. I just wish I had had the experience I have now when I got here at the start of the week, say Harris. I was just start to getting the hang of overtaking! The racecraft is completely different compared to what Im used to. But Ive honestly loved every minute of it! From my side I still feel I can do better but Bob East, the chassis builder and a man with a lot of experience is really impressed. We are already discussing future drives this year in the US and not just in a Midget. Tom was only able to make the trip thanks to the generous support from a number of UK companies including J Davidson Scrap, PRG Utilities, R&C Metals, Lucas Oil and Carbody car repair centre. It wouldnt have been possible without the support of these companies, I really appreciate them helping make it happen.” Colin Casserley (ChilliBowl, Jan 17) & Paul Tulley (checking he could handle a Full Sprint/eligibility session) photography
