And here is the prototype :) Fields bookshop in San Francisco in 1967 was my favorite bookshop. Two old (about my age now) ladies ran the shop, and it was a contact for the SF Gurdjieff group. It was my first connection to the metaphysical world. I cant say it was the reason I opened the shop (thats a story for another time) but the 2 ladies there were the first to support my intentions to do that. Sources for books back then were closely guarded by bookshop proprietors. It was before the distributors came on the scene, and we all had to order from publishers world wide to get the books. Anyhow the Fields ladies let me copy names and addresses to my hearts content - I spent countless hours there. And when I finally opened the Aquarian Age, i wrote them to ask if I could use their bookmark as a model... they were thrilled to have me do that... and a bit surprised that I really got a shop going. They thought The Fool was appropriate... they understood the book business (hah!)... but they also knew what a wonderful journey it could be...its been that for me for sure. Fields is still in business... though the ladies are both gone now...
