And now, an excerpt from the book, “That Did NOT Happen! An inaccurate collection of historical events” by Preston Smith: The corridors of history give little mention of the great debate over who actually invented the telephone. While Alexander Graham Bell was awarded the patent in 1876, there were several other inventors who may have rightfully claimed ownership of the telephone’s original design. In fact, one inventor’s design was so superior that Bell actually stole it right out from under him. That particular inventor insisted that the phone should make a clicking sound when a call was coming in; however, nothing he tried could make the phone click loud enough for his liking. In the height of his frustration, the inventor threw his prototype in a dumpster, where Bell happened upon it and admired it dearly. Bell took the discarded, nearly perfect prototype back to his office and after quickly discovering the one flaw with its design, he fixed it. After receiving news that Bell was awarded a patent for the very design that he threw away, the infuriated inventor stormed into Bell’s office. “I’ve been working on that invention for decades, and the prototype you stole was my best model!” he screamed angrily. But gazing smugly at the framed patent certificate hanging on his wall, Alexander Graham Bell just grinned as he replied, “If you liked it, then you should have put a ring on it.” The defeated inventor, Claude LeBeyoncé, stormed out of Bell’s office and immediately gave up his career as an inventor. Shortly thereafter, he started a dance school for all the single ladies in his neighborhood, teaching them a style of dance unlike any of its time. LeBeyoncé dreamed that one day this new style of dance, we now know as Hip Hop, would be his legacy -- forever characterized by a level of prestige and sophistication worthy of his name. That dream was shattered to pieces shortly after his death, when his apprentice, Otto Von Twerk, took over the dance school.
