As Eugene Robinson has recently stated, no recent pope has been so forceful in denouncing the ;idolatry of money and making the inexorable rise of inequality one of the church’s central concerns. Francis intends his message to be heard, because, it is clear from what he is saying, our sacred responsibility is to one another. Not, as this age of fealty to the evil Ayn Rand would have us believe, to oneself above all else.
