".........And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruise of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah. And it came to pass after these things that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him. And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son? And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed. And he cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?........1 Kings 17:16-20......." Lesson: Elijah prophesied shortly in verse 14......it is worth noting that his prophecy was in mood of a discussion with the widow of Zarephath......he did not close his eyes or fast before declaring his prophecy......this reveals to us when we are true children what we ask or say with our mouths shall surely come to pass......in verse 16......the prophecy was established......in verse 17......it was revealed the only son of the woman was sick to the point of death...... In verse 18......the woman became so worried......yes she ought to be......but in her worry she did something wrong accusing Elijah to be cause of her son sickness.....probably the son was very healthy before Elijah had visited them.......she was very suspicious.....in verse 19......Elijah in response to her accusation asked her to give him her son and took him into his room and laid him on his bed........ In verse 20......Elijah had to pray at the moment......there is a lesson to be learnt......there is a ministry of prophecy and also there is a ministry of prayer.......there are different dimensions of operation in the realm of the Spirit......we would have thought Elijah would have fasted and prayed for drought and abundance supply when she met the widow......but he only prophesied we can conclude that these two instances seems more difficult and challenging than the sick son......probably the woman would have been expecting prophecy for his son recovery but it took another dimension......which is prayer...... At this moment this was what God wants Elijah to do......so as children we must be more flexible and be under the control of Spirit of God to lead and direct us in situations we are confronting at any point in time for divine direction......we must not be robots......Jesus Christ our perfect example ministered to people through various means praying, teaching, evangelism, prophecy etc.....so there is no strict rules of how we would always receive from God...... In verse 18..... Jn 6:47……Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.......Jesus did not come to condemn sinners but have come to pardon and forgive sinners past and give them eternal life......You can come to him TODAY.....He would give you life eternal....do not condemn yourself because of your pasts.....e with a heart expecting forgiveness from your pasts.....when you confess with your mouth...salvation shall be yours... Prayer: O Lord pardon and forgive me my past sins.....in Jesus name....Amen
