And the journey continues…… I was listening to the radio - TopicsExpress

And the journey continues…… I was listening to the radio the other day and the commentator was discussing how Judges in 22 states can not be involved in the Boy Scouts because of the BSA stance gay scout leaders. I reflected on how wonderful my experience in Boy Scouts was back in Evanston not the least of which was spending time with my father. I thought about how sad it is that so many boys are now deprived of this experience because of how the BSA has been demonized. One of the emphases in Boy Scouts is First Aid and yesterday I was put to the test as an elderly woman had collapse in the store. She was unresponsive, bleeding from her nose, throat, and the back of her head. Her pulse was faint and she was not breathing. There were several people standing around the woman, but nobody was providing aid. Thanks to what I had learned in Boy Scouts (and with continued training as a Lifeguard), I was able to provide aid and when the woman was taken by paramedics, she was breathing. I understand the debate of having gay scout leaders, but I don’t understand the demonizing of those who want their sons to have this wonderful experience and the ability to potentially save lives.
