As rescuers know, there are rescues that break your heart but there are adoptions that mend your heart again. We have wonderful news! Our San Francisco Wire, Gretchen, who was left on a doorstep to fend for herself (although she was blind and deaf and with uncomfortable skin from allergies) has found the most wonderful forever home! Gretchen is now Dinky and is cherished by the Pearce family. Perhaps you remember the Pearces? Just a few months ago, they adopted Robbie (aka Morey whose eye had to be removed due to glaucoma). Robbie was adopted to keep ATRA alum Rosie (from a puppy mill) company. Both of them welcomed Dinky into the fold and now they make a fine trio of Wiry wonder dogs! And there is more good news: the latest report from the Pearces is that eye medication has restored some sight for Dinky! Her skin has significantly improved, she has gained weight and gets stronger each day. Her ears are better too and the vet thinks she is a bit younger than the estimated 12 years. Her personality is emerging and Carole reports, she is definitely a little character. As her foster mom, Donna, found out, Dinky is addicted to sun bathing. When Carole thought it was too hot for Dinky outside one day, Carole said Dinky threw an absolute tantrum...ran around the kitchen barking and growling....like a naughty two year old! Dinky has a new pink collar and harness and name tag and if she keeps this up I will have to get her a princess tiara! We are so very grateful once again to the Pearces for opening their hearts and home to Dinky and giving her the love and care she deserves.
