And...the snow has arrived, along with the wind... ENVIRONMENT CANADA Snow Squall Warning for: Niagara Falls - Welland - Southern Niagara Region ISSUED BY ENVIRONMENT CANADA AT 5:23 P.M. EST WEDNESDAY 31 DECEMBER 2014 Summary Snow squalls are occurring. Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate. Heavy snow squalls across Lake Erie will continue this evening. Snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm per 6 hours can be expected in areas where the snow squalls persist. Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably, changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight. For information on emergency plans and kits go to getprepared.gc.ca/ Snow Squall Warnings are issued when bands of snow form that produce intense accumulating snow or near zer o visibilities.
