Anderson noted that the HCIDA’s two-fold mission is to preserve and protect the courthouse endowment, approved by the commissioners court in 2009, and to assist the county and commissioners court with the ongoing preservation of the restored courthouse in perpetuity. “I feel strongly that the endowment is not only beneficial for our county, the county taxpayers, and the restored courthouse now and for the future, but I also believe that the structure of the endowment and the related board can be a model for other infrastructure-related projects and boards in our community, and in other communities as well,” she said. “The courthouse endowment, which was established through the sale of historic tax credits in 2009, is the first of its kind in the state and weve received comments from a number of historic preservationists in the state who have said that they believe that this endowment structure and the related work of the board could be a possible model that other courthouse projects in our state could learn from.”
