Andrea Dworkin would never have aligned herself with essentialism - TopicsExpress

Andrea Dworkin would never have aligned herself with essentialism or biological superiority. Neither, of course, would any radical feminist. Dworkin was right when she said that manhood and womanhood are fictions; what is missing from this analysis is her repeated insistence that those fictions were *political* and *involuntary* oppressions. Her statement on the absurdity of gender does not end with a call for liberalization. It ends with a call for abolition, the same call that radical feminists of today are making when they are accused of transphobia.
