Anesthesiologist Job: Albany VA Medical Center Albany, New York Locum Tenens Start Date: Immediate Brief Description: 2491 Albany VAMC, Long Term Assignment, Any State License Full Description: 1. LOCATION: Albany VA Medical Center, 113 Holland Avenue, Albany, NY 12208 2. ESTIMATED HOURS: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday; rotational on-call (weeknights and weekends); occasional overtime may be required at the discretion of the Chiefs of Surgery and Anesthesia 3. DUTIES: · Provide full anesthesia services in the five (5) operating rooms of the Stratton VA Medical Center. · The Medical Center conducts, on average, 197 surgical procedures per month. Types of Surgical procedures associated with this assignment include: general surgery, vascular, thoracic, orthopedics, plastics, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, diabetic foot, oral surgery, gastroenterology as well as providing services in the endoscopy suite. · The Anesthesiologist will be expected to administer the following types of anesthesia: general, epidural, spinal, regional blocks, monitored anesthesia care. · Rotational on-call (weeknights and weekends) 4. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Provider must be a Board Certified/Board Eligible Anesthesiologist and have knowledge of all current anesthesia procedures. Applicants will work in close collaboration with the Chief of Anesthesiology 5. QUALIFICATIONS: Offeror is required to provide documentation which evidences candidate qualifications as specified below (see #26 for additional submission requirements): · Must be a U.S. citizen · Must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d). · Must have a degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. · Must have current, full, active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States or the District of Columbia. · Must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Anesthesiology · Must have a current and valid DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) number · Must have current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) 6. EQUIPMENT: Must be familiar with and skilled in the use of: · Standard anesthesiology equipment · Computers 7. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicant shall have no physicial limitations as related to walking, bending, lifting, standing and typing. 8. CONTRACT TERM: Period of coverage needed will be 6 months from date of performance with 1 additional option to extend for an additional 6 months thereafter. 9.
