It can be for a number of reasons. They may simply getting in over their heads or have a psychology disorder. Animal rescues can get in order their heads. There are just more animals than there are homes for them and hoarding situations develop. Kimi Peck was arrested with 55 dogs in a recreation vehicle last month. Peck has previously operated a rescue that was closed down in 2010 where she had 150 dogs confiscated. There are some things that can be done if you suspect someone may be hoarding animals. Step in if you see animals that are living in unsanitary conditions and if they are malnourished. Contact police or fire department, a veterinarian, the Humane Society - someone with authority to remove the animals. Help to get the animals adopted or adopt one yourself. Volunteer your time at a local shelter. A shelter(s) and rescue(s) often times are where animals confiscated in a hoarding (cruelty) case will end up. Donate money to a local shelter or rescue group if you cant volunteer your time. Support legislation against animal hoarding and animal cruelty. Animal hoarding may be a case of too much love but it inflicts pain, suffering and even death to companion animals. It is especially prevalent in these times where animal shelters and rescues are filled to the brim. People are taking on more than they can handle.
