Animal Rights vs Animal Welfare : Know the difference A word of caution about animal rightists. Unlike conservation-minded and other animal loving, well meaning folk, these people will ultimately have us with NO pets, NO police dogs, NO guide dogs, no oxen ploughing fields in poor places, no milk in your coffee, and no lab rats to help find cures for cancer (get the picture?). By their standards, cities will be overrun by rats, because rats have rights. But I somehow think they will compromise on this, but by then they will have achieved their selfish goals and imposed them on us normal folk. Animal rights , like many charities, unfortunately, is a self containing multi-million dollar con industry, that gladly take money from well-meaning , often rich people , at fancy dinner parties, but spends little or nothing on good deeds, like conservation. Unless you count as good deeds, of course, their fat-cat executive packages and spending self-promoting supporting, “research” produced by some funding-starved academic in support of their “cause”. In fact they do not even provide much or any support to animal WELFARE organisations, considering these to be sell-outs and not radical enough. They achieve support by spewing emotional rhetoric much like corrupt politicians, but you can be sure (like with politicians), that the agenda is SELF SERVING, SELF ENRICHING and sinister. Like non-thinking voters supporting ex-freedom fighters (or terrorists, depending on whether you have had family blown up in a breakfast restaurant or not), their followers THINK that it is the RIGHT THING to do to support them, but in doing so undermine and unfortunately negate the years of development of realistic and practical solutions, pragmatic research and COMMON SENSE. Scientific fact is that omnivorous apes and monkeys are smarter than their vegetarian family members. Humans would not be at the top of the food ladder if it was not for us eating meat. I would rather play tool using smart monkey than let my canine teeth go unused, and live in a rat infested hole while, like anti-gun politicians who have armed bodyguards, the animal rights fat cats , most certainly will live in rat-free (compromise) penthouses, far from the realities of nature.
