Anne , William and I just go back from a fabulous trip to Egypt. To my photography and adventure friends ... let me make the suggestion that you go now ... this photo shows you what you will find. Mohamed Ossama was a fabulous guide who does private trips that would be just what I would look for if I was planning a trip. You can fly direct from NYC on Egypt Air or as we did Lufthansa thru Germany. For the photographers ... OMG ... you have the temples to yourself !!!!!!!!!!!!! Normally Disney World busy to give you the perspective. Gave me goose bumps to be walking in these ancient sights by myself feeling like I had been transported back 200 years when visitors had it to themselves. Felt perfectly safe. The people are wonderful and to give you an idea on how wonderful Mohamed Ossama is ... I left my photography card wallet with ALL my CF cards in it on the Egypt Air flight back to Cairo, discovered it when I got to my hotel 3 hours later! Contacted Mohamed and he was able to contact a friend in security who found it on the plane and got it to me that evening. Would that occur in the United States? Hes your man for planning, helping and coordinating a wonderful trip. He has the connections and knows where to stay, when to get there, etc. He is also working on trips to the Sudan for those of you who have been to Egypt many times.
