Annunciation of the Lord | Lk 1:26-38 | Today, we celebrate the Annunciation of the Lord. In the vast selection of people who were called by and responded to God, Mary stands out. She is asked to do the impossible and, despite her own doubts and apprehensions, she says yes. Let what you have said be done unto me, are the words she utters in the Gospel according to Luke. And her acceptance to Gods invitation to participate in his saving mission, to be the Mother of His Son, sets into motion the greatest and most perfect expression of Gods love for us: Jesus Christ. Today, we pray that we, too, may become instruments of Gods loving plan here on earth. We ask for the conviction and strength we need to be bearers of hope and justice to the places where we live and work and to the people that we encounter.
