Anointed To Preach the Gospel Posted: 15 Sep 2013 01:40 AM PDT “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound,” Isaiah 61:1. There is no message as important as the message of the gospel. It has priority and precedence over any other message in the Bible. The gospel is the message of God to the people of an unbelieving world that will set them free from the condemnation of sin. Jesus is the Second Person of the Godhead, and the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus is the central theme. The gospel is the summation of cost that God was willing to pay so that He might have the relationship with mankind that He desires. Jesus brought the gospel to the world, fulfilled it and left it for us to tell others. There are no better, more perfect, unchaining words that can set the soul locked in sin free as saying, “I believe that God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die, be buried and rise again for my sin.” These words truly said from a repentant heart forever open the door to an eternal relationship with God the Father. REFLECTION - The gospel is meant to be shared! And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15). Beverly Barnett
