Anon post: My lb is just over 4 months old and is just about averaging 20ozs a day from his bottle. We are wrecking our heads trying to get a feeding routine going with him and to try get more ozs into him on the recommendation of the phn. He was underweight at his 3-month check up and the nurse asked us to do a diary of his feeds for a week. I had voiced my concern over his feeding habits then to her. Of course for that week he was very good feeding and put on weight and the nurse was happy enough with him saying she would weigh again at 6 months. Since then it has returned to being a battle to feeding him during the day - he barely takes 2-3ozs at a time and they could be easily 4-5 hours apart. If he doesnt want the bottle he just repeatedly shoves it out of his mouth with his tongue or turns his head from it. Right now the only time we can get any decent amount of feed into him is when he goes to bed at night and is asleep! We give him a dream feed (4-5oz) at 7pm, 11pm and he does wake himself for a feed anywhere between 4-5am. Once hes had that feed at 5am though he wont take a bottle till nearly 9.30 - 10 am and its a struggle to get more than 3 ozs into him. After that if I get another two 3oz bottles into him before he goes to bed at 6pm, Im doing well! It just has us so frustrated! Hes not a cranky baby or anything and loves to play out on his mat and loves interacting and watching things around him. I would hate to think something is wrong and we are not picking it up on time. Just to add we had him on sma and even changed to aptimil to see if perhaps he just didn’t like the formula but no change to his habits! Would love to just hear from other parents if they have had a similar problem because the advice on here is very good! Thanks in advance!
