Anonymous asked, Im very interested in Waldorf or Montessori-inspired education for my almost preschooler. Im heavily leaning towards Waldorf, but Im having a hard time wrapping my head around not introducing the alphabet or academics until first grade (from curriculum previews Ive read such as Earthschooling). I understand that other countries do this, but Ive also heard of horror stories of homeschoolers/unschoolers who waited too long to do real academics and couldnt seem to get their child motivated to read or do basic math at that point. Im worried about my child falling behind academically if we wait so long to begin academic work. Can someone please help me get a better understanding of how academics go with a Waldorf-inspired education? Id like to hear both the good and the bad. Also, what is your favorite Waldorf curriculum? I know most will say that I dont need a curriculum for the younger years and that play is the most important thing, but as an unconfident beginner Id like a curriculum to help me figure out what to do. Thank you.
