Another Appalling Case Of Neglect ***Caution Graphic Photos*** We got a call from a lady to say she had 2 kittens in her garden that did not look well and they where a nuisance. Nothing new to us, we receive several of these calls daily....However it was not a situation our volunteers expected to see.... Two of our volunteers responded this morning and while trying to locate the kittens, the first thing they came across was a dead kitten just lying there. They were shocked, but that was just the beginning. They searched a while longer and came across the 2 kittens. What they saw was shocking. These 2 young kittens in a horrific condition. They were rushed off to the vets immediately. One kitten was completely blind and the other kitten was blind in one eye. This was probably due to untreated cat-flu and resulted in leaving these 2 kittens in excruciating pain. We only had one option and that was to put them to sleep and free them from their pain as quickly as possible. They were about 4/5 weeks old, what a way to of spent their short lives. Most importantly, these kittens did not get in this condition overnight and someone must of seen them before now. While the volunteers were there, they noticed more kittens and another pregnant girl. They returned in the afternoon with carriers and traps. They managed to catch 4 more kittens, the pregnant mother and 3 other strays. The sad thing is that some of these strays were once peoples pets! The ignorance of people and the blind eye that people turn is just unacceptable. Why is it okay for everyone to ignore it, but our volunteers must go and pick up the pieces. This is just plain and simple pure neglect. Just leave your cats, they can fend for themselves......Hello....no they cant. They are NOT disposable, they feel pain like any other animal. We appeal to people to contact us when there is 1 stray hanging around and not when there are litters of kittens everywhere. Please, please people, get your cats spayed and neutered. If you are feeding strays/feral cats, please get them spayed and neutered too. We have to STOP this appalling neglect and suffering!!!!!
