Another Edition of The PlayBook Chronicles Title: Fourth and Short Setting: Wake Forest University (Football Practice Field) Occasion: 110 yard sprint(s) test day for the Football Team Temperature: Approximately 98 degrees (not the boy band) Fahrenheit Starring: Tarence Williams, Chris McCkoy, Nick Burney, John Stone, Jamie Scott, Coach C & Coach B Every Summer, usually a few days before football camp launches off, The Wake Forest Demon Deacons Coaching Staff orchestrates a physical test that consist of the team running seventeen 110 yard sprints, Under a certain time frame. We (the team) were categorized and grouped off by positions, for instance.... The Offensive & Defensive Lineman were in one group, the linebackers & tight ends were in a group, then you have the other skilled positioned players in a group together (Running backs, wide receivers, quarterbacks, defensive backs ect.) The skilled position group were the fastest, which means that particular group had the least time to make it across the finish line (the time frame was about 14 seconds). Earlier that morning in The Pit------->Wake Forest Universitys terminology for The Cafeteria The Pit was a place that we (the students and student athletes) always talked trash about until it was time to use that free meal card to control those antagonizing hunger pains that were developing in our bodies. That morning for breakfast, I had ordered a steak & cheese omelet with bacon, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms & peppers along with some hash browns and a bowl of Apple Jacks with freshly sliced bananas (well maybe not soooo fresh)
