Another Mindless South Remake that fails miserably (One wonders what Sanjay Kapoor was thinking casting his talentless nephew In a role that obviously required major star power and attitude to offset the substandard plot and script). Sadly as I expected Arjun falls way short but on this occasion I really dont blame him, he didnt have much to work with. Boney Kapoor has given us a string of such nonsensical movies starting with Abhishekh Bachans run which believe it or not eventually turned out to be a hit at the box office, maybe he says to himself that because of that he continue getting away with it. This however is cinema at its worst. You know what the next two hours are going to be like when Arjun Kapoor claims to be the perfect blend of Salman Khan, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone (obviously without the muscle, attitude and star presence). Tevar is the same old run of the mill story of the hero trying to protect the heroine from the goon. Agre ka launda Pintoo is a one man army bashing hundreds of gundas all through the film. Tevar is directed by well known ad filmmaker Amit Sharma who decides to shoot in Agra and Mathura, following the old school trend of setting all gunda mawali stories in Uttar Pradesh. The entire film promises you bloodbath and action sequences, if not anything else. Arjun Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha in a still from TevarArjun Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha in a still from Tevar The plot of Tevar revolves around Pintoo, played by Arjun Kapoor who respects women and plays kabbadi. On one of his unfortunate trips to Mathura, he ends up messing up with Mathure ka gunda Gajendra Singh while trying to save Radhika (Sonakshi Sinha) from his clutches. Gajendra Singh, played by Manoj Bajpayee has a politician elder brother with high contacts. Radhika and Pintoos great escape from Mathura followed by Pintoo offering her to stay at his place only proves how dumb the story can be. Ironically, Pintoos father happens to be the Superintendent of Police whom Gajendra Singhs elder brother appoints to apprehend Radhika and Pintoo. Gajendra wants Radhika, Radhika wants Pintoo, and Pintoo wants to drop Radhika at the airport so that she can leave for America. The film gets as stupid as it possibly could. Tevar also boasts of a few songs, which are apt for festivals coming up in 2015. With Superman, Arjun Kapoor proves how great a fan he is of Salman bhai. Music bajega loud to radha nachegi, starring Sonakshi Sinha, is the song which draws Gajendra Singhs attention towards her. In other words, that is where the conflict begins. Well, thats not the end, Tevar also has an item number featuring long-forgotten actress Shruti Haasan. With films like Tevar, cinematography and script must be excused and shown the door. You dont expect great camera work in such copied films. Tevar is a remake of Telugu film Okkadu. After an exceptional performance in Finding Fanny, Arjun Kapoor gets back to his Gunday variation, sadly. Sonakshi Sinha plays the same old dumb character as usual. The person stealing the entire show is Manoj Bajpayee, playing the gunda with a jockey underwear on, he alone makes up for the acting deficiency that Tevar possesses. Anybody up for a commercial masala flick at the beginning of the year can consider watching Tevar. For the likes of me, theres better to come, hopefully.
