Another Pangasinan housing project in the works BY: ELSHA MARIE B. SORIANO LINGAYEN, Pangasinan June 16 (PIA) – The Pangasinan provincial government has started working on the second phase of its socialized housing to provide roofs for homeless Pangasinenses. Construction of the Villa Maniboc Socialized Housing Project-Phase II is in the works to to provide housing units to government workers, public school teachers and uniformed personnel. The provincial board passed a resolution on Monday authorizing Governor Amado Espino, Jr. to negotiate and sign a contract of agreement with the private developer for the project construction. Board member Nestor Reyes said the project which sits on a 1.8 hectare-lot could generate at least 134 homes to accommodate additional beneficiaries. Reyes said the Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF) or Pag-IBIG Fund has offered to finance the land development and house construction. He said the project, which provides decent and affordable shelter for the homeless Pangasinenses, is a priority development thrust of the provincial government. The project lot, with a total land area of 5.5 hectares including phase 1, was reserved and declared under Presidential Proclamation No. 499 with a corollary memorandum from then President Fidel Ramos in 1994 for socialized housing and other development purposes.
