Another Pirated Photo by the Lebanese Heritage..... With Michael Halaby, Gabriel Daher, Carole Truszkowski-Tabib, Kheireddine El-Ahdab, Elie Saab, William Mougayar, Nabil Mansour, Tony Hafez, Antoine Courban, Ghassan Bahij Atiyeh....... I originally posted this photo on the Lebanese Jumble Club Facebook page June 28,2014. I know it is mine because of the inflection of the script on the bottom left hand side corner of the photo. I took the shot personally from a private collection of original postcards by Sarrafian, here in London,England. I do not mind that photos which I post, on public open web pages , are widely and publicly shared. That is what Facebook is all about ! Indeed , I encourage and welcome widespread sharing to happen. These nostalgic photos are for all of us to enjoy, learn from and value. However, I do mind when someone hijacks your photo without proper reference to the originator nor uses the Share functionality offered by Facebook.....Worse of all, I seriously get pissed off when someone not only hijacks your photo but then places an ugly personal watermark on it, defacing the original photo and claiming it as if it is theirs !!!! That is an indecent act of electronic piracy..... It is uncouth, vulgar and dishonest. I do not know the person behind the Lebanese Heritage Facebook page. I gather it is an individual in Michigan ,USA that goes by the name of Rob Zebib. I do not know whether it is this individual that watermarks and posts such pirated photos. I simply ask that this individual, who is shown as the contact person on the Facebook page to ensure that he or his associates stop this heinous behaviour. Such a behaviour does a disservice to a site that presents itself as an electronic community of the Lebanese Heritage. I do not think that the rest of us who are genuinely of Lebanese ancestry ,origins, culture and therefore heritage would wish to be associated with such devious practices. I have now seen this act of pirating photos and watermarking them as Lebanese Heritage..... Many times! Share the photos if you want, but: Stop this practice and come out clean......
