Another day, another distortion and desperate attack by my opponent and his DC allies. Today, DC money merchants supporting my opponent mailed an attack piece which is filled with outright falsehoods and distortions. My opponent stated some of the same falsehoods on a radio interview. Let me set the record straight (again). The hit-piece against me states as “fact” 1. That I have only practiced law in Arkansas for less than 6 years and 2. That I have only handled 8 cases in Arkansas courts. The actual facts: Of the 13 years I have been a practicing lawyer, 8 of those years have been in Arkansas in the following jobs: -Court of Appeals legal clerk -Counsel to Governor Mike Huckabee -Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Lonoke County -Attorney for the Department of Human Services -Counsel to Huckabee for President 2008 -Private practice at The Rutledge Firm, PLLC For 5 years, I worked in our nation’s capital as Counsel at the Republican National Committee and at the National Republican Congressional Committee fighting Obama and Pelosi. I am licensed to practice in both Arkansas and D.C as well as before the Supreme Court of the United States. For these DC Beltway Bandits and my opponent to claim that I have only handled 8 cases in Arkansas courts is not only a 100% falsehood but also demonstrates their lack of understanding of what prosecutors and attorneys for the State do. This speaks volumes to my opponent’s lack of understanding of criminal law and the fact that he has never handled criminal cases. As a prosecutor and as a lawyer at the Department of Human Services, I literally handled hundreds of cases in Arkansas courts. Literally hundreds. I was in the courtroom handling cases and trials 2-3 days each week. Friends, don’t be fooled by the falsehoods of DC Beltway Bandits and my opponent. Experience and integrity matter. Remember to vote in the June 10th runoff—vote for experience and integrity!
