Another day in Laurel Hill..... A cool but lovely sunny morning to wake up to. The rescued chicken happily munching the petunias I planted yesterday. To be fair though she stayed in the wood tank rather than my front veranda overnight leaving me less preparation for the days activities. So the family arrived and the kids fed the chooks and collected one egg (9 hens) and fed the horses and decorated the fir tree for the festive season before the crowds (?) arrived for ....... Backyard Church! As the local Assembly folks all got organised to sit down for the meeting clouds rolled in, wind increased and temperature dropped. Rugs came out. Clothes appeared. Just like those good old Camp days we all have fond memories of. The rain held off, not daring to fall and it was all good. We could still understand the Pastor even though I thought his teeth were chattering. He was too stalwart to accept the offer of a jacket. Oh, and the bulldozer - in the paddock next door filling in the old dam. Now I know why it is called a dozer. When the sun came out for brief intervals the warmth and the dozer, well you can imagine the rest. Sadly no-one took up the invitation for baptism in the horse trough right next to the gate though! It was all followed by a wonderful lunch/afternoon tea with some extra delights specially created for the occasion. After the packing away was finished and everyone left (including the wayward chicken who found a new forever home to go to) I wandered over to see if there were more eggs. Maybe I just beat the devoted pair of blue tongue lizards to it, which purposefully marched in to the hen house just after I collected 3 more eggs! PS Does anyone know if blue tongue lizards eat eggs?
