Another day of the journey comes to an end (late). Now settled into Santa Fe, NM. Spent a large part of the day riding as much of old Route 66 as we could find. Lots of interesting history in those stretches. Cool places like the Blue Swallow motel and the Wigwam motel. They really do exist and are still in use today! Not sure I could stay at the Wigwam. Rooms are shaped like a wigwam and if you are going to use the bathroom facilities, you better be facing the direction you need to go, otherwise, you will have to back out and turn around. We stopped at the Midpoint Cafe (1139 miles to Los Angeles and 1139 miles to Chicago. Wanted to have a piece of ugly crust pie. Alas, they had closed for the day at 4:00PM. Roll up the sidewalk pretty early around there. Had dinner in Santa Fe, sat outside watching the moon rise over the San Gabriel mountains. Stopped in the casino on the way back just to look around. Ended up playing blackjack and walking out with more money than we walked in. The adventure continues tomorrow... Selah!
