Another early Tropic Isles shot. The back yards originally all - TopicsExpress

Another early Tropic Isles shot. The back yards originally all were graded as a single slope down to the canal. Later , the increased erosion in this configuration cause the banks to be re-graded into a terraced format, with two slopes and a flat area to allow the water flow to stop in the middle. Our house was built before the change, and they did not want to rip out the struggling grass, so the empty lot next door had a transition between single-slope and double (shown in the photo). Eventually the lot was developed and the house that eventually belonged to my aunt and uncle (Graham and Bonnie Scott) was built. Several of my cousins lived there for varying lengths of time with the youngest, Andy Scott, being there for a significant time. As the canals get closer to the Laguna Madre, the elevation of the lots decreases, so the configuration changes until the lots closest to the open water are built on stilts, since the land is only a few feet above water level.
