Another extremely important thing for Salvation which I have recently learnt is Decision. Usually I live my everyday life, and whenever a temptation comes, I try to find any possible excuses to yield to it. And it doesn’t change with time, because in fact I don’t want it to change. Sin is enjoyable, and all my human nature wants is to enjoy. This can change only through desperate decision to stop leading such life. You have to decisively decide to run away from sin, even the smallest one. Reject all things, which distract you from God – popular chats, forums, too much TV, all things which consume a lot of time and leave you with nothing. Fear them as if they were the Hound of Baskerville. Add constant prayer to it. Pray everywhere, every time you have spare time. Make your prayer simple and hearty. “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, sinner”. “Do not leave me, oh, Lord!” “Lord, deliver me from evil”. “Lord Jesus Christ, make me fervent in spirit” etc. Add lent on Wednesdays and Fridays (no meat or other food of animal origin) or food restrictions. Eating a lot makes your body ground and your spirit weak. Food restrictions for God (not for your thin belly) really help your spirit to stay awake and ready for the ‘invisible battle’. Add Holy Communion. The Blood and Flesh of the Lord grant us with His Mercy, which immensely strengthens our Decision, makes prayer hearty and sincere, and helps to keep up with lent of food restrictions.
