Another fascinating day with unplanned detours featuring once again. Who said my dear brother, Bill was the only one in the family with no sense of direction? LOL! I can turn a 3,500 mile trip into a 4,500 mile trip just like that ... and that ... and ... You get it! What I saw of South Bend, Indiana yesterday afternoon and this morning was wonderful. The older style architecture of some of down town impressed along with the style of the workers’ cottages although the highlight of the morning was a visit to the Studebaker Museum. Although this huge museum was packed with historical items of every kind, my principal interest (as you would guess) was the vehicle collection. About 50 or so years before motorised vehicles were produced by the company, Studebaker carts, drays, coaches, landaus and the rest were produced by the family – all featuring a distinctive style with the classic Studebaker panache.
