Another first for me this morning: a motorist behind me puts on his flashers until its safe for him to pass me. I was coming up a hill on a 2-lane road going to work, which as always is slow for me, especially at 33°F this morning. 10 MPH or less. Im centered in the lane. A car approaches from behind (same hill Ive had a VERY close call on before), I monitor what he does in my mirror, and I see that he slows down and has the cars emergency flashers on. He maintains a safe distance. As I crest the hill I see that its clear and wave him on by. He changes lanes fully, passes me easily and safely, and then turns off the flashers as he goes by, meaning they were on for me. I guess he was doing that to warn anyone else coming up behind them of the slow speed, although there were no other cars behind him. Nice gesture I guess. A little odd, but nice. Unfortunately I was doing too much huffing and puffing getting up the hill to think to wave as he went by me. Oh well.
