Another important milestone has been achieved. Mysuru Zoo in its - TopicsExpress

Another important milestone has been achieved. Mysuru Zoo in its history of 123 years, has set up separate Rescue & Rehabilitation centre at Koorghalli 15 kms away from the main zoo. The centre is yet to be inaugurated. Yesterday, it has received first of its inmates. Four tigers, two captive and two rescued from the wild have been shifted to new cubicles at Chamundi Conservation, Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre. It was a day of unsung heroes. Sri Nagendrappa Zoo Engineer and Sri Pramod Range Forest Officer are primarily responsible for making it functional within a period of 25 months as envisaged. As I seen them for last two and add years, their struggle and hard work finally see the arrival of rescued wild animals. As the area is big and zoo has 8 wild tigers in its inventory, future looks good as the zoo can breed wild gene tigers in the centre with the permission of CZA and can distribute to other captive centres. Recent tiger census figures justify the start of the facility, as our state forests are home to the highest number of tigers in the country. Once again my kudos to our Engineer and RFO .
