Another one of my favorite Provo bombs in England is the 1996 Manchester Bomb This was a 3.5 tonne truck bomb the largest device ever detonated on British soil & no bigger bomb has been detonated since. It reduced the middle of Manchester city to ruins. The bomb targeted the citys infrastructure and economy and caused widespread damage, estimated by insurers at £700 million about £1.2 billion by 2014 standards. Several buildings near the explosion were damaged beyond repair and had to be demolished, while many more were closed for months for structural repairs Although many warnings were given in advance over 200 people were injured in even in the the area the police had sealed of such was the enormity of the blast. Luckily due to the IRAs planning no civilians were killed. If there had been no warning given perhaps a 1000+ people would of been killed. The British tried to defuse the bomb using one of those remote controlled robots but they had no hope. The bomb was constructed so well by the South Armagh brigade just like the Docklands bomb a few months earlier no way was anyone or anything going to defuse this. bomb. The blast created a mushroom cloud which rose 300 meters (1,000 feet) from the ground..Glass and masonry were thrown into the air, and behind the police cordon – up to half a mile away. It was probably the IRAs most successful economic bombing operation in their 28 years of guerrilla warfare - No civilians killed & close to a billion pound worth of damage. https://youtube/watch?v=GFpvfz8Ls4Y .
