Another rave review of the Meyerbeer CD with the NZSO on Naxos, this time by a different independent reviewer for influential Classical Music website, Music Web International (this CD is also a top recommendation on Amazon and iTunes): musicweb-international/classrev/2014/Jul14/Meyerbeer_overtures_8573195.htm Another remarkable thing is that a young conductor Darrell Ang takes this music totally seriously. He does this without overplaying his hand … The orchestra are clearly enjoying themselves and often let rip but play with clarity and judgement. It’s quite possible that this music has never sounded so good.
