Another safe trip to and from the University of Minnesota to see Dr. Vehe. We are very happy with how the appointment went. Dr. Vehe went through all the labs that have been drawn during and since the episode recently of fevers, headaches, joint pain, rashes. The tests indicate one of two things. Inflammation or Infection. When she was doctoring locally they were not able to pinpoint an infection but Dr. Vehe thought possibly a sinus infection that went undiagnosed as he has seen that often in his rheumatology practice. The other possibility is that her JDM was flaring or that she was presenting with arthritis symptoms. Since she is doing better right now its hard to decide what exactly has been going on so he sent lab orders with us. They are the normal JDM labs, inflammation labs, and a Von Willebrand test. Von Willebrand is a test used for JM but Addie has not had this test done previously. He will also send notes to the doctors up here to consider ordering a sinus cat scan if the symptoms start up. We may not have gotten exact answers but we have a plan in place, we know that she has active JDM but it at the moment does not appear to be flaring. We will continue to push on.
