Another week went by, and Randy Ortons on-air frustrations with The Authority continued. Raw began with Orton and Kane being attacked by Dean Ambrose and John Cena due to Seth Rollins actions at Night of Champions. Rollins escaped the melee despite being its catalyst. Orton later told Triple H he was growing tired of Rollins starting fires that he and Kane had to put out. Ortons frustrations were justified, as Raw ended with Ambrose and Cena getting the better of Kane and Orton while Rollins was once again able to escape through the crowd. Pair this with the continued streak of weeks—turned months—during which Orton has not been granted his promised WWE World Heavyweight Championship rematch, and the third-generation Superstar appears on the verge of exploding in more ways than one. Orton remains a cold character. Despite being aligned with WWEs top heel stable, he is closer to a henchman than a top heel. Recent high-profile feuds with the likes of Roman Reigns and Chris Jericho have gone nowhere. Win or lose, theyve been too brief and shallow to add meaning to Ortons character. But whether intentional or not, WWE has suddenly stumbled upon a growing conflict that, if exploited, can reinvigorate Ortons character while creating a fresh matchup. Credit: WWE The Authoritys continued favoritism toward Seth Rollins can be the impetus for a Randy Orton babyface turn. Orton is most effective as a loose cannon. His persona as The Viper and an Apex Predator are borne out of his dangerous disposition—one that makes him prone to strike suddenly and without warning. The sublpot of Orton being taken advantage of by The Authority to protect Rollins needs to be accelerated in order to make Orton relevant again. Each week, he should be closer to losing it like only he can. One night of RKOs to every Authority member within striking distance would take Orton from ice-cold heel to top babyface overnight. Orton hasnt had a match against reigning WWE World Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar since becoming a top star. Both are marquee names, and working with Orton—who remains an elite wrestler—could produce the best technical wrestling match of Lesnars career.
