Another year has almost passed. Another year of so many things happened… some of them good, some of them bad, some of them neither nor… One of the biggest events had been my first steps into Equilibrium in may, which was not only discovering a new instrument for me, but discovering a whole new scene: the Epic Pagan Metal thing, which I was not used to so far. I learned a lot during our European “Erdentempel”-tour in October, had wonderful concerts and made new real good friends for life. Except from the tour, Equilibrium had some beautiful shows during this year as well and I guess my highlights were our show at Hellfest, where I got to know Mr. Nuno Bettencourt and the show at Rock Harz Festival, as for the first time in my life I was allowed to play twice on such a great festival - with 2 bands: Equilibrium and Knorkator. As far as I think about my Knorkator-buddies, we had some really insane great shows too in spring during the “We want Mohr”-tour, and my highlight was without questioning the double sold out shows in may at Columbia Halle in Berlin, where we recorded a DVD which will be released on 13th February next year. For my personal health it was a hard year, as a lot of strokes of fate made it sometimes difficult to always smile… either concerning my own health or health of close friends/family or consequences caused by evil behavior of people I mistakenly let into my life, some people’s unreliable behavior caused me big problems, for the first time I thought I am going to die in an airplane, I played some shows with a broken rib and an inflamed nerve in Germany and Russia, which was not very pleasant to experience; I reached the absolute over-limit of painkillers in one’s body, experienced also for the first time how it feels to wake up in a nightliner and not being able to move one’s fingers anymore… but “knock on wood” – I am still alive and functional! 2014 I finished my first solo album, which I wanted to get signed by a nice label too, but unfortunately I had to learn that 99% of the responses that I received were unprofessional, disrespectful and/or ridiculous. The only company which seriously declined my album, in which I put a lot of heart blood was Universal. So I had to put another hell bunch of money in, to do it all by myself – without any help of anyone. I decided to abjure the commercial consumption craze of i-tunes, amazon, spotify ect., that’s why you have to shake my hand and say “Hello” when we meet, if you wanna buy one copy of my album. Never the less thanks to HOFA for the uncomplicated and fast work. This leads me to saying Thank you to all the endorsement companies I am lucky enough to work with in my life: A huge special thank you goes out to Stephan Killermann of Ibanez / meinl for supporting me, the bands I play in and my career, as well as to Christian Schlossarek & family and Martin Kleine of ENGL – you guys are awesome and really helped Equilibrium with your support! It was a year of work! It was year of experiences, I learned a lot for life and I am curious what 2015 will hold for all of us!
