Increased police patrols to make 17B safer.. PM - 08/06/14 WHITE LAKE – The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department will be stepping up enforcement on a road that has seen at least 19 fatalities in the last decade, the departments top officers said Wednesday. In the aftermath of an accident that claimed the life of Narrowsburg resident Robert Schenk, 33, on Monday, various law enforcement agencies will be working together to curb irresponsible habits of motorists along State Route 17B. This will mean increased patrols, DWI checks and other tactics that will begin immediately, according to Sheriff Michael Schiff. It will also involve cooperation from other county departments, including the county District Attorney’s Office to help prosecute offenders.
