Anson Independent School District will be having regular and special elections on November 5, 2013. Two board members will be elected during the regular election. Board members serve for three years and are elected using the cumulative voting method. This year, since there are two positions to be filled, voters will be able to cast two votes. Votes may be cast all for one candidate or one vote may be cast for each candidate. The terms of Danny Jimenez and Pat Seballos will be ending. Mrs. Seballos was appointed to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Keith Jones. One board member will be elected during the special election. Kerry Fortune was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Greg Pinkston. Candidate for this position will be elected for the one year remaining on this term. Since there is one position to be filled in the special election, voters will have one vote to cast. Deadline to file for an application on the ballot for the regular election is August 26, 2013 at 5:00 p.m.; deadline for the special election is September 4, 2013. Applications to be on the ballot are available at the Superintendent’s Office, located in the auditorium facility, 1431 Commercial, Anson, Texas. Applications may be picked up between 8:00 – 4:00 Monday – Friday, except on the last day of filing, when the office will be open until 5:00 p.m.
