Ashes and rose petals: Shes still reminiscing Dancing in the memories that died long ago The finger tips cares her tears Crashing all around her Soaking into the oak floor boards A lie hides behind her pearly smile Her words deceiving when she says her tears are of joy But in reality, that photograph, that memory frozen in time It hides more pain than the empty promises that fill her ears every time her mother comes back drunk Her mother stumbles back to consciousness Her daughter comes into focus She sees her standing there with tears dripping from her chin A sobering thought pierces her clouded mind Years worth of suppressed pain engorges her year ducts She finds it in her heart to collapse into herself and let the rivers bleed out from her eyes Her daughter doesnt look, she just lets the frame shatter into a million different shards Social services comes and invades the house like a fleet of extraterrestrials Wanting to abduct her and examine her brain Looking for that chemical imbalance that too often runs concurrent with depression Ill sober up, just dont take my baby her mothers voice echoes in her head as they look for her new family Its crazy... How a group of strangers... Can become a better family... Than family ever was (reference to my poetry group) *sorry if I offended anyone*
