Anybody free July 4th weekend? Here’s the plan: Meet in Fresno 7am on Friday, July 4. We’ll all hop on to my truck & on to our first stop, Lava Tube Cave in the Mojave National Preserve (hikespeak/trails/lava-tube-mojave/). We’ll also explore an exposure of Cambrian limestone, the Kelso Dunes, Hole in the Wall, and Cima Dome. Afterwards, we’ll head to our hotel in Phoenix where we’ll stay Friday & Saturday night. Saturday morning, we’ll head to Salome Creek to go canyoneering at ‘The Jug’ (arizonahiking.org/component/content/article/82-mogollon-rim/147-salome-creek-the-jug) . Sunday Morning, we’ll head up East Clear Creek for Deep Water Soloing (youtu.be/bziqEAoFKTQ). Before we drive back home, we’ll stop by at the Lava River Cave near Flagstaff (alltrails/trail/us/arizona/lava-river-cave) Hotel: I booked a room at Springhill Suites Phoenix at $50/night (discounted rate) which will be $100 for both nights. It’s a suite with 2 queens beds & 1 sofa bed (2 people will share in each queen bed & 1 will be on the sofa bed or I can get another room for you if you want) Gear: For canyoneering, I’ll bring the other gear we will need (static rope, slings, etc.). You should bring your own helmet, harness & rappel device (ATC, pirana, etc.) Optional is a PFD/Life Jacket, gloves & approach shoes. For DWS, bring your climbing shoes. Carpool: We need a high clearance vehicle for this trip so we’ll ride in my truck from Fresno & just split gas. Note: Prior Rappelling experience is a must to be considered for this trip. I’m not a guide so everybody is expected to do his/her own research of the trip details. THIS IS NOT A GUIDED TRIP. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY, YOUR OWN GEAR, AND HELPING TO PROVIDE AND/OR CARRY GROUP GEAR.
