Anyone else finding the cost of vet visits becoming a barrier to owning pets (i.e multiple whippets). I have 4 gorgeous whippys- two 10 year old brothers and two girls age 3 and 1. Yesterday one of my old boys had to get a lump that appeared on his stomach removed. It was a smallish lump, about the size of 1/2 a small lemon that appeared over the course of a month- vet was 99% sure it was ok but recommended removal just in case. In total the bill was $1100 (including $200 for pathology) I was a bit shocked, was expecting no more than $600. Im worried if it does turn out to be cancerous and more appear I simply wont be able to afford further treatment. Im not having a go at the vet, I have great respect for them and their work- Im just a bit shocked. I have insurance for my young girls.
